Reset Diet
The reset diet mimics your immediate post-surgery diet by breaking your diet into stages. The purpose of a reset diet is to help patients gain control of their unhealthy eating habits and to help them kick start their weight loss after experiencing weight regain or weight plateaus by restricting the amount and types of food you eat.

The reset diet consists of 3 stages. Follow each stage for the recommended timeframe in coordination with the following bariatric lifestyle guidelines.
- Drink 64 ounces sugar-free, non-carbonated, non-caffeinated fluids daily. Eliminate all soda and high sugar beverages, including juice, sweet tea, sweetened coffee drinks, energy drinks, & regular lemonade
- Consume minimum of 60-75 grams protein daily by consuming 15-30 gm of protein every 3-5 hours. 15 gm of protein should include less <10 gm of sugar and <5 gm of fat
- 30 minutes of exercise most days above and beyond your daily activities
Stage 1: Liquid Protein
Follow for 5-10 days
- Protein drinks/shakes
- Low sugar / fat yogurts
- Protein or cream soups
- Puddings with protein powder
Stage 2: Full Protein
Follow for 1-2 weeks
- Liquid Proteins as above
- Non-breaded baked/ grilled/ broiled lean meats, poultry, seafood, tofu
- Eggs
- Cheese, cottage cheese
- Beans, legumes
- Protein cereals
Stage 3: Full Protein + vegetables/fruit
Follow for minimum of 2 weeks prior to re-introducing any other carbohydrates.
- Full Proteins
- Non-starchy vegetables (no potatoes, corn, peas)
- Fruit
